Culinarium Housewares

Meet Jordan Castro. “While working as a PM in the concrete industry, I decided to entertain the thought of creating a concrete salt cellar for my own use… It garnered so much interest amongst our friends that I decided to offer my wares to others. The rest is history!

We are a family owned company that prides itself on providing unique & indispensable products that improve every day living. Culinarium is the manifestation of our love for cooking and entertaining as well as the unique experiences we have working with new & exciting materials. We believe the heart & soul of any house is the kitchen, and that our handcrafted wares bring practical solutions to your home.

These one of a kind goods are produced utilizing eco-friendly materials such as concrete, recycled marble dust, rubber, cork & stainless steel. Most of our products are fabricated with locally sourced recycled content.

Culinarium is based out of Plum Island – Newburyport, Massachusetts – 45 minutes north of Boston. We personally design and handcraft each item here in the USA. Our dream is that you will see the beauty in these American handmade pieces, and feel inspiration when entertaining & cooking in your own home.

Culinarium has made a name for itself in the housewares marketplace using unlikely materials such as concrete, recycled rubber & stainless steel to make one-of-a-kind homegoods. Both practical and beautiful, these handcrafted kitchenwares have earned extensive recognition in the design community… Culinarium embodies the true meaning of “culinary arts.”

As a featured “Emerging Design” recipient at the 2012 New York International Gift Fair, Culinarium has recently been included in the 2014 Design Debut in Chicago by the International Houseware Association. Culinarium has also been featured in publications including Dwell, Elle Decor, The Food Network, Details, and Boston Magazine, as well as in the New York Times! Minimalist, elegant and distinctive, Culinarium kitchenwares will enhance any kitchen or home.

GIVEAWAY

Concrete Salt Cellar (Retail Value $32)

This container stands about 2″ high with a diameter of about 2.75″. It is designed and crafted due to frequent requests for a slightly more diminutive cellar that is a bit more suitable for table service. All items are one of a kind. Each unit is casted in a hand made mold for about a week, hand burnish, and then applied with three coats of FDA approved sealer.

This item is not composed of typical concrete. It has taken years to perfect this mix design. All of Culinarium’s concrete items are composed of an advanced cementitious mix which utilizes extremely small particulate, very little water, and reactive recycled pozzolans…The result is an incredibly strong, smooth, and tactile surface that is more similar in physical characteristics to ceramic or aluminum than it is to concrete!
